Neal Conan, host of National Public Radio's Talk of the
Nation, led the round-up discussion on the stage of
Severance Hall at the end of the colloquium.
On January 31, 2003, a colloquium was held at Case Western Reserve University on the occasion of the inauguration of Edward M. Hundert, M.D., as President of the university. The goal of this colloquium was to make it possible for all participants to leave with a stronger and more informed commitment to creating cohesion and alliances among great universities and their cities, and greater appreciation for the enormous benefits that these relationships can bring to all concerned. As the record of the discussions will attest, the program provided ample content and encouragement for achieving this goal.
We thank all those who joined us in this colloquium and who by their presentations and their comments contributed to a magnificent illustration of the collective power of great universities and their cities. To commemorate this achievement, and to share the findings of the participants, we have created a record of this event which is available online at colloquium.pdf.
