Dr. Robert Ronis has been named Interim Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, with the announcement of Dr.Delgado's departure. Dr. Ronis is well known to faculty and staff, having served as Vice Chair for Education and Director of Public Psychiatry for many years, and as Interim Chair in 1999-2000.

A native of Cleveland and graduate of Case School of Medicine, Dr. Ronis completed his residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland. He received his Masters in Public Health from the Ohio State University in 1995, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Ronis was co-founder of the Public Academic Liaison ("PAL") Program, an ongoing collaboration between the Department of Psychiatry and the Cuyahoga County Community Mental Health Board. He chairs the All-Ohio Institute on Community Psychiatry, a statewide interdisciplinary celebration of community mental health services drawing more than 500 participants each year; and established the Mental Health Executive Leadership Program, a joint program with the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve and the Ohio Department of Mental Health. He helped to develop and co-directs the Ohio Substance Abuse/Mental Illness Coordinating Center of Excellence at Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Ronis was named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association in 1996. He was awarded the Kathleen Burton Memorial Award from the Cuyahoga County Community Mental Health Board in 2000, and named a NAMI Exemplary Practitioner in 2002. In 2003 Dr. Ronis was named the first "L. Douglas Lenkoski Professor of Psychiatry" in honor of his contributions to community psychiatry and public academic collaboration.
