About the Program
Our program involves stabilization of
acute illness with multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment
for adults over the age of 55. We provide care to those
with behavioral and mental disorders such as dementia,
depression, anxiety and psychosis, as well as personality,
psychosomatic and impulse-control disorders.
The inpatient program consists of an 18-bed
unit housed in the Hanna Pavilion. Families and signifi
cant others are welcome to visit between 11:00 a.m. and
8:00 p.m. We offer a warm and receiving environment with
staff that is kind and personable.
Our physicians are fellowship trained
geriatric psychiatrists. They have completed specialized
training in working with older adults. Our team closely
collaborates with the patient’s primary care provider
and family in addition to specialists from other medical
services and they together address diagnosis, prognosis,
treatment plans and post-discharge plans.
The length of stay is short term and discharge
planning is begun shortly after the patient is admitted.
Prior to discharge the team will share treatment recommendations
with the family. Discharge occurs when the team concludes
that the patient may safely reside in an appropriate and
less restrictive environment.
