The Center for Adolescent Health was established in 1991 by Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine. The Center incorporates research, professional education, and collaboration among community agencies and programs.

The mission of the Center for Adolescent Health is to improve the bio-psycho-social and environmental health of adolescents with a strong emphasis on the Greater Cleveland Community.

The Center works closely with departments at Case Western Reserve University and other institutions in Cuyahoga County. In addition, the Center is the umbrella organization for the Adolescent Consortium, a networking organization for local youth-serving agencies.

The Center's four goals are:

1. Research: The Center coordinates and conducts research activities relevant to adolescents. It collaborates with Cleveland and Cuyahoga County organizations and agencies on issues involving adolescents, such as violence and sexuality.

2. Education: the Center for Adolescent Health provides educational training at undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and post-graduate levels for professionals. In addition, the Center consults with community organizations on educational endeavors.

3. Advocacy: The Center supports the development of rational public policies addressing health and social issues that concern youth. Center faculty and affiliates work in concert with other organizations to further awareness and support for adolescent programs.

4. Links to the Community: The Center builds bridges among Greater Cleveland community agencies that provide services for adolescents through the Adolescent Consortium. The Consortium comprises more than 120 health and social service providers in Cuyahoga County. It is an integral part of other county-wide efforts promoting child, adolescent, and family health. The Consortium also provides support to its member organizations, including coordination of services, networking and professional education.
