Our Mission

Is to provide comprehensive diagnostic laboratory services to facilitate diagnosis and treatment of patients affected with mitochondrial disorders.

Our Laboratory

The Center for Inherited Disorders of Energy Metabolism (CIDEM) at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio is a group of inter-disciplinary, specialized laboratories which focus on disorders of mitochondrial function. These disorders include: pyruvate metabolism, fatty acid oxidation, Krebs cycle, and electron transport chain. Clinical conditions associated with these disorders include major disabilities affecting the central nervous system, skeletal muscle, heart and other organs.
