At Case School of Medicine, you will find top-notch leaders in biomedical science and exceptional facilities. We count eight
Nobel Prize winners among our alumni and former faculty, and engage members of the National Academy amongst the faculty.
Many of our foundation basic science departments are routinely top-ranked in the nation by the
National Institutes of Health, and with the greatest NIH grant support for any institution in Ohio, Case provides
the highest quality research training.
New interdisciplinary initiatives add excitement to the work we do, with programs in genomics and bioinformatics,
cancer biology, the study of the brain and the biology of infections, as well as emerging programs in imaging
research and nanotechnology.
Our research profile continues to grow with the opening of the $110 million Wolstein Research building in 2003 that
brings together the research initiatives of Case and clinical and translational departments of University Hospitals
of Cleveland.
Cross-Institutional initiatives join us with hospital and commercial partners to provide state-of-the art research
programs. For example, a new center for Stem Cell and
Regenerative Medicine, representing a consortium of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), The Cleveland Clinic,
University Hospitals of Cleveland (UHC), Athersys Inc. and other research partners has garnered significant support
and is committed to developing new stem cell technologies to treat disease. The Cleveland Center for Structural Biology links scientists from Case, The Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland
State University in studies on molecular structure.
We're excited about shaping an academic and biotechnology complex dedicated to biomedical science and its applications
on the former site of Mt. Sinai Medical Center that is now Case's West Quad.
Case Research Facilities include state of the art imaging cores and transgenic animal facilities.
