MANDEL CENTER FOR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

MAIN NAVIGATION

BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION

Many nonprofit executives tell us that they feel isolated in their jobs. Despite the fact that they work with boards and staff, they also say they often have no one with whom to discuss pressing issues – or exciting new ideas.

They also say that opportunities and challenges arise fast and frequently. Therefore, they need to be able to analyze and respond quickly.

Leaders’ Links is meant to reduce those feelings of isolation and offers nonprofit leaders a group of colleagues who “get it” – their fellow executive directors and CEOs.

Furthermore, each Link member chooses his or her discussion topic for each session. This guarantees fast, relevant feedback for issues and opportunities at hand.

Benefits from participating in Mandel Center Leaders’ Links are:

LEARNING - The format is designed to help meet participants’ individual and collective learning interests, increase each participant’s understanding of his or her own work and roles, and provide a learning experience in which the knowledge gained is immediately applicable.

TRUST - All information shared during a session is considered confidential. This creates a safe environment for sharing. As a group works together, trust builds.

PROBLEM-SOLVING - Members discuss and obtain feedback on resolving tough issues - whether they are professional, personal, or organizational.

CONNECTION - Participation in Leaders’ Links reduces the sense of isolation felt by many nonprofit executive directors, CEOs, and presidents. It re-affirms, and even builds, their confidence and competence.

NETWORKING – Leaders’ Links promotes a spirit of collegiality. Participation helps busy leaders take needed breaks, establish friendships, and develop relationships with their peers.

ALLIANCES - Networking leads to additional organizational benefits. Participants report that a number of organizational alliances were formed as a result of collaborative ties forged by Links’ members.

RENEWAL - Participation also helps reduce stress, tension, and the risk for burnout.

INFORMATION, TOOLS - Members often provide each other with specific resources that are targeted to meet group or individual learning interests.

COST SAVINGS - Participation in Leaders’ Links can be far less expensive - and more effective - than programs that may not be targeted to meet specific learning needs or manuals that often sit on shelves.

REDUCED FEES FOR MANDEL CENTER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS – Members of active Links are eligible for a generous discount of 30% for all other Mandel Center Professional Development Programs.
