Student Highlights
Susan Alexander, MNO-Executive Option candidate and assistant director of financial aid for student employment at Case Western Reserve University, was presented with the 2008 Outstanding Service Award by the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA). Alexander earned the honor due to her service of two consecutive terms as MASEA's treasurer. Her responsibilities and accomplishments included overseeing membership dues records; the association's accounts payables and receivables; arranging for a bi-annual audit of the financial accounts; serving on the strategic planning and conference planning committees; and conversion of all MASEA financial records to an electronic bookkeeping system, which saved time and resources for the association and for future MASEA treasurers.
Latisha James, MNO-Executive Option candidate and director of the Center for Community Partnerships at Case Western Reserve University, coordinated the sixth annual Case for Community Day on September 19. Each year, this event provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, students and local alumni to serve as volunteers in the Cleveland community. With over 500 people registered to participate, this year's event had the largest team of volunteers since the event's inception. Participants chose from over 50 service projects with local nonprofit organizations. The Center for Community Partnerships serves as a clearinghouse of information about the university's involvement and impact in the community. Collectively, the university celebrates community service 365 days of the year investing nearly 400,000 hours of volunteer service with 600 community partners worldwide. Shosh Ratzabi, MNO candidate, and her husband Doron welcomed the birth of their son, Nevo, on September 2. Weighing 6 lbs. 15 oz., he joined the family after three sisters.
