Since early 2017, journalists and then scholars have grappled with the question of whether social and political developments in the United States parallel those of the Weimar Republic in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s. An historian of German history shares his own thoughts and how they have evolved since January 20, 2017, as the basis for a broader discussion among the participants.
