Nursing Students Gain Hands-on Experience in Guatemala

Nursing students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by volunteering in a local clinic or hospital in Guatemala for ten days. The trips are coordinated with Refuge International and accompanied by two CWRU preceptors. In 2008, students assisted in providing health care in San Raymundo. They treated over 800 people in many different areas of nursing and, upon their return, gave a detailed and interesting presentation which inspired many students. Nursing students interested in international experiences can choose from a variety of academic and extra-curricular opportunities.
