Travel Services handles policy administration hotel and car rental discount programs and the audit and reimbursement of travel expenditures. Travel Requisition, Statement of Travel Expense, and the Employee/Student Participant forms are available on-line.

IRS Decreases Business Mileage Rate to 55 Cents for 2009

The IRS has announced that the standard business mileage rate for transportation expenses paid or incurred beginning January 1, 2009, will be 55 cents per mile, down from the 58.5 cents per mile rate in effect during the second half of 2008 .

With appropriate approval, airline reservations and direct payment for local hotel room/ room tax can be arranged through either of our two preferred travel agencies, Flite II and Traveline.

Documentation Update

Effective June 1, 2009, all U.S. citizens are now required to present a passport book, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document when entering the United States. Children under age 16 will be able to continue crossing land and sea borders using only a U.S. birth certificate (or other form of U.S. citizenship such as a naturalization certificate. The original birth certificate or copy may be used.

 

Effective Jan. 23, 2007, all citizens of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda must present a valid unexpired passport to enter the United States when arriving by air from any part of the Western Hemisphere. This applies to all travelers including children and infants. The passport issuance process can take 4-6 weeks. Additional information can be found through http://travel.state.gov
