SECURITY ALERT

 

Type of Incident:   Robbery

Location of Incident: 1650 E. 115th Street, Near Denison Rehearsal Hall

Date of Incident: Thursday, March 17, 2005

Time of Incident: 12:00am

Incident Description:  A female student was approached by five males, demanding her money. The female student screamed, and at the same time, a nearby unknown male student noticed the situation and yelled at the suspects also. The suspects then ran towards the unknown male student, demanding money, as the female student ran into Hitchcock House. The suspects fled the scene in a white Dodge Neon. No personal property was taken and there were no injuries.

At the same time, a Case Protective Services officer saw the vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed, and followed it. University Circle Police joined in the pursuit. The pursuit ended at Circle and Cornell Drives. Two suspects were apprehended. Further investigation revealed that two Case students had been robbed by these suspects in Cleveland Heights earlier in the evening. 

Description of Suspect(s): Suspect #1- Black male, age 20, 6'2", 172 lbs, black hair, brown eyes. Suspect#2 - Black male, age 19, 5'8" 140 lbs, black hair, brown eyes. Suspects 3 through 5 are black males between the ages of 16 and 24, with no further description.

Additional Information: The Cleveland Heights Police Department and University Circle Police Department are conducting an investigation.

  Awareness Information


-To report a crime, suspicious activity or any emergency, please immediately contact the Protective Services Dispatch Center , 24 hours a day, at 368-3333 .  Dispatchers will direct the appropriate University and City responders for the situation.
 
- Protective Services and University Circle Police patrol the campus continually in patrol vehicles, utility vehicles, bicycles, and on foot. 
 
- Escorts are provided anywhere on campus and locations immediately adjacent to campus.  Request an escort 24 hours a day by calling 368-3333 or by using an emergency phone, located throughout the campus.

- Protect yourself by using the campus bus service http://greenie.case.edu/   or the escort service rather than walking alone.  Jog or bike during daylight only in areas you are familiar with and stay within University Circle http://www.universitycircle.org/uc_maps_parking.asp#   if you live on campus.  Let a responsible person know where you are going, when you will return and how to contact you if you go somewhere alone outside of your normal routine.  Trust your gut feelings and avoid persons and situations that make you feel uncomfortable.
 
- Protect your belongings by locking your office/room door every time you leave, don't leave purses, book bags, laptops and other valuables unattended.  Keep valuables out of site in your car. Don't allow tailgaters to enter secured doors behind you. Report thefts or suspicious activity immediately to Protective Services.
