Location of Incident: Intersection Euclid/ Coltman
Date of Incident: Monday, November 6, 2006
Time of Incident: 5:00 pm
Incident Description: A female Case student was walking eastbound on Euclid Avenue when she saw the shadow of the suspect approaching from behind. The suspect placed what felt like a cylindrical object against her ribcage and demanded money. The student stated that she had no money. The suspect apologized, and stated he was homeless and hungry. The suspect continued walking behind the student eastbound until the student turned onto Coltman, at which time the suspect continued east on Euclid.
Description of Suspect(s): Black male, 6’, thin, with short hair
Additional Information: The suspect never said that he had a gun. The victim was not injured.

Awareness Information
-To report a crime, suspicious activity or any emergency, please immediately contact the Protective Services Dispatch Center , 24 hours a day, at 368-3333 . Dispatchers will direct the appropriate University and City responders for the situation.
- Protective Services and University Circle Police patrol the campus continually in patrol vehicles, utility vehicles, bicycles, and on foot.
- Escorts are provided anywhere on campus and locations immediately adjacent to campus. Request an escort 24 hours a day by calling 368-3333 or by using an emergency phone, located throughout the campus.
- Protect yourself by using the campus bus service http://greenie.case.edu/ or the escort service rather than walking alone. Jog or bike during daylight only in areas you are familiar with and stay within University Circle http://www.universitycircle.org/uc_maps_parking.asp# if you live on campus. Let a responsible person know where you are going, when you will return and how to contact you if you go somewhere alone outside of your normal routine. Trust your gut feelings and avoid persons and situations that make you feel uncomfortable.
- Protect your belongings by locking your office/room door every time you leave, don't leave purses, book bags, laptops and other valuables unattended. Keep valuables out of site in your car. Don't allow tailgaters to enter secured doors behind you. Report thefts or suspicious activity immediately to Protective Services.
