SECURITY ALERT

Type of Incident:  Aggravated Robbery

Location of Incident:  Adelbert Road pedestrian bridge

Date of Incident: Friday, 10/27/2006

Time of Incident: 10:00pm

Incident Description:  At approximately 10:00pm, two Case students were walking north on the Adelbert Road pedestrian bridge when a man ahead of them on the bridge turned around and confronted them.  The suspect pointed a handgun at them and said, “give me all you got”.  The students did not have anything to give the suspect. The students left the area north on the bridge, while the suspect turned southbound. The suspect then confronted two other students who were walking northbound on the bridge.  The suspect pointed his gun at the students and stated, “give me all your money”.  The students complied and gave the suspect their money.  The suspect fled the area south on Adelbert Road.  The students notified Case Police and University Circle Police, who searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.  None of the students were injured.

Suspect Description:  The suspect was described as a black male, age
16 to 23, 5’8” to 5’11”, 150 lbs, medium complexion, thin build, sparse beard wearing a black hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head and dark colored baggy jeans.  The weapon was described as a chrome colored revolver with a black hammer and handle.  Two of the students stated the suspect appeared to be high on a controlled substance.

  Awareness Information


-To report a crime, suspicious activity or any emergency, please immediately contact the Protective Services Dispatch Center , 24 hours a day, at 368-3333 .  Dispatchers will direct the appropriate University and City responders for the situation.
 
- Protective Services and University Circle Police patrol the campus continually in patrol vehicles, utility vehicles, bicycles, and on foot. 
 
- Escorts are provided anywhere on campus and locations immediately adjacent to campus.  Request an escort 24 hours a day by calling 368-3333 or by using an emergency phone, located throughout the campus.

- Protect yourself by using the campus bus service http://greenie.case.edu/   or the escort service rather than walking alone.  Jog or bike during daylight only in areas you are familiar with and stay within University Circle http://www.universitycircle.org/uc_maps_parking.asp#   if you live on campus.  Let a responsible person know where you are going, when you will return and how to contact you if you go somewhere alone outside of your normal routine.  Trust your gut feelings and avoid persons and situations that make you feel uncomfortable.
 
- Protect your belongings by locking your office/room door every time you leave, don't leave purses, book bags, laptops and other valuables unattended.  Keep valuables out of site in your car. Don't allow tailgaters to enter secured doors behind you. Report thefts or suspicious activity immediately to Protective Services.
