This incident occurred off campus,
but because of the proximity to the university, Case Police & Security
Services would like the campus to be informed.
Type of Incident: Robbery
Location of Incident: Euclid Avenue and East 117th Street
Date of Incident: September 20, 2008
Time of Incident: 2:00 a.m.
Incident Description: A man was walking eastbound on Euclid Avenue near East
117th Street when he was approached from behind by an unknown suspect. The
suspect asked the man for his wallet, but the man did not comply. The suspect,
using his closed fist, hit the man in the face. The man then handed over his
wallet, passport and keys and walked away westbound on Euclid Avenue. The
suspect took the man's property and fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Suspect Description: The suspect is described as a black male, 25 to 30 years
old and about 6’1’’ tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark, hooded
jacket, with the hood up, and dark colored pants.
Additional Information: The man was not injured, and no weapon was mentioned or
seen. An incident report was provided to Case Western Reserve University on
September 22, 2008.

Case Western Reserve Police and
Security officers and University Circle Police patrol the campus
continually in patrol vehicles, utility vehicles, bicycles and on foot.
Escorts are provided anywhere on campus and in areas immediately
adjacent to campus. Request an escort anytime, 24 hours a day, by calling 368-3333
or by using emergency phones located throughout campus.
Rather than walking alone, protect
yourself by using the campus bus service http://greenie.case.edu/ or the escort service.
Jog or bike during daylight and only in areas with which you are familiar. Stay
within University Circle http://www.universitycircle.org/uc_maps_parking.asp# if
you live on campus. Let a responsible person know where you are going, when you
will return and how to contact you if you go somewhere alone outside of your
normal routine. Trust your “gut” feelings and avoid persons and situations that
make you feel uncomfortable.
Protect your belongings by locking
your office or room door every time you leave. Don’t leave purses, book
bags, laptops and other valuables unattended, and keep valuables out of site in
your car. Don’t allow “tailgaters” to enter secured doors behind you. Report thefts or suspicious activity immediately to Case Police at
368-3333.
