Type of Incidents: Robberies
Location of Incidents: The first incident took place at Ford Road between Hessler Street and Bellflower Road. The second occurred
about an hour later at the corner of Ford and Bellflower roads.
Date of Incidents: Monday, September 1, 2008
Time of Incidents: 12:45 a.m. and 1:40 a.m., respectively
Incident Descriptions: At 12:45 a.m. a student walking north on Ford Road between
Hessler Street and Bellflower Road was approached by
two unknown men, who came toward the student from an indistinct direction. One
of the suspects demanded money and searched the student’s pockets, while the
other brandished a knife. The suspects took $3 in cash from the student and
fled south on foot toward Euclid Avenue.
While police were taking a report
from the first student at the student's home, around 1:40 a.m., a second
student, at the northwest corner of Ford and Bellflower roads, was approached
by two unknown men. One suspect demanded the student’s wallet, while the other
brandished a knife. The student gave the men his wallet, and the suspects fled
south on foot toward Euclid Avenue.
Suspect Descriptions: The two suspects in the first incident are described as
black men between 5’8” and 5’10” tall. One was wearing a blue shirt, while the
other had on a white t-shirt. In the second incident, the suspects are
described as two black men in their mid-20s. One was dressed in a blue polo
shirt, while the other was wearing a white t-shirt.
Additional Information: The two students were not injured. Police believe the
incidents are related, and the investigation is ongoing.

Escorts are provided anywhere on campus and
in areas immediately adjacent to campus. Request an escort anytime, 24 hours a
day, by calling 368-3333 or by using emergency phones located throughout
campus.
Rather than walking alone, protect
yourself by using

or the escort service. Jog or bike during daylight and only in areas with which
you are familiar. Stay within University Circle http://www.universitycircle.org/uc_maps_parking.asp#
if you live on campus. Let a responsible person know where you are going, when
you will return and how to contact you if you go somewhere alone outside of
your normal routine. Trust your “gut” feelings and avoid persons and situations
that make you feel uncomfortable.
Protect your belongings by locking
your office or room door every time you leave. Don’t leave purses, book
bags, laptops and other valuables unattended, and keep valuables out of site in
your car. Don’t allow “tailgaters” to enter secured doors behind you. Report thefts or suspicious activity immediately to Case Police at
368-3333.
