Senior Research Associate in Physics
The Department of Physics seeks Sr. Research Associate to conduct research in computational physics with an emphasis on imaging. Study inverse optimization problems and use numerical computational tools to solve medical imaging issues. Apply computational methodology to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) magnet design, gradient coil design, and low radio frequency (RF) coil design. Study specific absorption Rate (SAR) of optimized MRI RF coils. Develop and run computer optimization programs using C/C++, Fortran, Mathematica, and Matlab. Use software packages such as finite difference time domain (FDTD), xFDTD, SEMCADx; and electromagnetic finite element software packages VECTOR FIELD to study optimized designs for MRI magnets, gradients and RF coils. PhD in Physics reqd. (or equivalent based on evaluation of academic credentials, training and/or experience) and one year in job or job related experience to include inverse optimization programs to solve medical imaging issues; apply low radio frequency (RF); use of optimization programing languages C/C++, Fortran, and Mathematica. Suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable. 40 hrs/wk, Mon-Fri, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., $60,000/yr.
