NetWare Services -> Logging into NetWare

Before you log in...

...you need a NetWare account. For information on how to get an account, see Activating Your NetWare Account.

Logging in on a Macintosh

OS X

  • In your finder, go to the Go menu and select Connect to Server....
  • In the window that appears, type in either afp://pulitzer or afp://nobel, depending on which server you want, and press Connect.
  • If you're asked to log in, enter your user name and password and press Ok.
  • You will then be presented with a list of volumes. Select the volume you want, and press Ok.
  • The volume will appear on your desktop, and you may browse its contents from there.

OS 9

  • Open the Chooser from your Apple menu.
  • Click the AppleShare icon.
  • Press the Server IP Address button.
  • Type in the name of the server (Nobel or Pulitzer) you want to connect to in the box that appears and press Connect.
  • You will be asked to log in.
  • Select the volume you want and press ok.
  • The volume will appear on your desktop. You can then open it and navigate through it as you would any folder or drive on your computer.

Logging in in Windows

Without a client

  • Go to your Start menu and select Run.
  • In the box that appears, type in \\nobel_w or \\pulitzer_w, depending on which server you want, and press Ok.
  • If you're asked to log in, enter your user name and password and press Ok.
  • An explorer window with the server's contents will appear. You may browse the server from there.

With the client

When Windows starts up, you should see a login screen. If you don't see this screen, go to your desktop, right click on Network Neighborhood or My Network Places and choose NetWare Login... from the menu that appears. If you have already set the context for your id, enter your user name and password and press Ok. If you haven't already set the context, press the Advanced button, enter your context, name and password and then press Ok.

Once you've logged in, you can use NetWare services such as file sharing.
