Before you start...
- ...you need to have a password for your local Windows account. If you use a blank password, you may add a password in the Users control panel.
- ...you need a NetWare account. See Activating your NetWare account if you don't have one.
- Have your Windows CD available. If a Windows CD did not come with your computer, there may be Windows setup files on your hard drive. See your computer's documentation for details.
- Disable your anti-virus software.
Running the install program
- Login to your computer as Administrator.
If you are not the administrator of your computer,
you need to find the administrator
and have them log in and install the client for you.
- Download and run the setup program on the left.
- The Setup program will tell you everything you need to do to install the software. Once it's done, it will ask you to restart your computer. When your computer restarts, you should be ready to log into NetWare.

Logging in for the first time
When your computer restarts, and each time you restart after that, a window like the one here will appear:
Your id should already be printed in the Username box. If you don't see it, see Troubleshooting, below. In the password box enter the temporary password you recieved when you activated your account, or your current password if you already have one.
If you have forgotten your temporary password since activating your account, go to the password reset page and log in with your CWRUnet (e-mail) ID and password to get a new one.
If you've just gotten a temporary password, you will be told that your password has expired, and that you need to change it.
Click Yes to change your password.
In the window that appears, enter a new password for yourself, in the box at the top, and enter it again in the second box.
Press OK. You are now logged into NetWare, and the next time you log in, you need to use the password you just chose.
If your id isn't printed in the Username box on the login window after installing the software, try the following steps:
- Press the Advanced button
- The window will get bigger, and you should see at least two tabs: Windows and NDS.
- If you see the NDS tab, type in your NetWare username and password and try logging in. If that doesn't work, please stop here and send mail to novell@po.cwru.edu for assistance.
- If you do not see the NDS tab, type in your Windows username and password in the login window and press Ok to log in.
- Go to your Start menu, and select Run.
- In the window that opens, type in cmd and press Ok.
- A plain black window with white text will appear. In it, type cd %windir% and press Enter
- Type cd system32 and press Enter
- Type regsvr32 axprf.ocx and press Enter.
- A message should appear telling you that a registration operation succeeded. Close the message box, and then close the plain black and white window.
- Restart your computer. You should be able to log in now.
