NetWare Services -> Installing the NetWare Client -> Windows 95/98/Me v. 3.3
Last updated 16 January 2001
Before you start...
- ...you need a NetWare account.
If you do not have a NetWare account, see Activating your NetWare account for instructions on getting one.
- Have your Windows CD available.
The NetWare Client may require some files only available on your original Windows CD.
If a Windows CD did not come with your computer,
there may be Windows setup files located on your hard drive;
see your computer's documentation for details.
- Disable your anti-virus software.
Some anti-virus software, such as Norton Anti-Virus or McAfee VirusScan can interfere with the NetWare client installer.
For information on disabling these programs, see the manuals or online help that came with them.
You may turn the software back on when the client installation is complete.

- Download and run the setup program on the left.
(While Windows comes with a client for NetWare built in,
for a variety of reasons,
it is not recommended that you use it.
Please the client here instead.)
- A Setup screen with a welcome message will appear. Press OK to continue.
- You will be asked for your CWRU id. Enter it in the box and press OK.
- A message will appear telling you about your context settings. Press OK to continue.
- Setup will spend a while copying files to your computer, and tell you it's ready to run the client installer. Press OK.
- Accept the license agreement.
- A window will appear asking you to select an installation option. Choose Typical and press Install.
- The client installer will copy some files to your computer, and then ask you to reboot. When your computer restarts, you should be ready to log into NetWare.

Logging in for the first time
When your computer restarts, and each time you restart after that, a window like the one below will appear:
Type in your ID in the Username box, and in the password box enter the temporary password you recieved when you activated your account, or your current password if you already have one.
If you have forgotten your temporary password since activating your account, go to the password reset page and log in with your CWRUnet (e-mail) ID and password to get a new one.
If you've just gotten a temporary password, you will be told that your password has expired, and that you need to change it.
Click Yes to change your password.
In the window that appears, enter a new password for yourself, in the box at the top, and enter it again in the second box.
Press OK. You are now logged into NetWare, and the next time you log in, you need to use the password you just chose.
