Web Design Projects
- Case Western Reserve University
- The design of the campus Web server, including the home page and common graphic elements such as the toolbars, are mine. I also determine general server structure and so forth in the course of administrating the system (with help from John Sully).
- Encyclopedia of Cleveland History
- This site is one of my best, despite the fact that it uses frames. I was responsible for the design of all graphic elements, page layout for the index and articles, and overall project management. The backend coding was done by Mike Pirnat and Wes Barton.
- Great Lakes Science Center
- The product of a consulting job, this design reflects the cutomer's desire to have a "bright and fun" Web site. Most of the pages are driven out of a database using PHP3, which allowed us a great deal of flexibility in serving up data and performing user customization.
- Mac Gaming Alliance
- They wanted a new site design, so they sponsored a contest where they gave away a Macintosh computer game in exchange for a redesign. I entered and won. The link leads to their site, which is using my design entry. Hey, now I can claim I'm an award-winning Web designer!
- Silver Creek Farm
- This is a community-supported agriculture farm, certified organic, and so on. My wife is a member of the working core on the farm, and so, by extension, am I. They didn't have a Web site but wanted one, so I volunteered. This is the result.
- NetForce Development, Inc.
- This is one of my best efforts at integrated site design when working with pre-existing materials (the logo and colors, as well as the organization of the site). Unfortunately, this design was never used, although I still don't know why not.
- Digital Media Services
- I have ongoing responsibility for Web page layout and graphic design of our department's main page. The above link shows its current look, whatever that may be.
- EuclidPLUS
- At the request of our Library Systems Specialist, I designed nearly all of the graphical elements for CWRU's Web interface to its library catalog system.
- CSS1 Test Suite
- Not exactly a beautiful site, or one heavy with graphic design, but it is functional, fairly easy to navigate, and passes the Bobby-test for accessibility. These were all criteria for the site's interface, so I feel satisfied that despite the lack of flash, it's a good design.
- HealthWise
- An on-line newsletter; also for the Health Museum of Cleveland. In this case, I did my best to mirror the printed version, and at least got close.
Graphic Design & Art
- Ranier Outerwear

- A low-resolution mockup of a full-page magazine print advertisement for a fictional hiking-gear company, shown here at 25% original size. About two weeks after I finished creating this image, I picked up Prodigy's The Fat of the Land and discovered that they'd used the same effect. Oh, well.
The original is available in both GIF(94.1 Kb) and JPEG(105.4 Kb) formats.
- Other Graphic Designs
- A small collection of logo designs, ad banners, and other buttons which I've created over the years.
- The 3D Gallery
- A collection of 3D scenes constructed and rendered by yours truly.
