The combined BS/MS program allows highly motivated students to complete both a B.S. and M.S. degree in five years. Applicants to the BS/MS program should have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and should apply when they have completed between 75 and 90 credit hours. The Chemical Engineering Department requests that applications be submitted by Feb 15th. If the course of your academic program makes this date impractical, please see Dr. Edwards.
Applications for the BS/MS program are available from the CSE Engineering and Student Programs Office in Nord 304. Applications to the BS/MS program include the following:
Completed application form
Statement of Objectives
Official Case Western Reserve University Transcript
Three letters of recommendation
Approved Program of Study
Your program of study must list all courses that will be counted for the M.S. degree. Up to nine credit hours of graduate courses may be counted towards both the B.S. and M.S. degree. These double-counted courses must be specified on your completed Program of Study form. Please see your advisor to consult about your Planned Program of Study (see Advisors). The Program of Study form must be signed by both your advisor and the department chair before being submitted as part of your application.
The Department of Chemical Engineering does not require the GRE exam for BS/MS applications.
When your application is complete, please see the Graduate Coordinator in AW Smith Rm 111 before submitting your application to the School of Engineering. You will then submit your final application to the CSE Engineering and Student Programs Office (Nord Hall 304). Do not submit an application fee for this program.
Students with questions about the BS/MS program should see Dr. Robert Edwards (rve2@cwru.edu) in the Department of Chemical Engineering and James McGuffin-Cawley, CSE Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs (jxc41@cwru.edu).
