Other Important Information
Clear Financial Account Required: Graduates must fulfill all financial obligations to the university by Friday, May 13, 2009 to participate in Commencement. (Evening students with documented employer tuition reimbursement may participate in Commencement and will receive their diploma when the student services office is notified of final payment.)
Appropriate Academic Attire
Graduates must wear Case Western Reserve University academic regalia (cap, gown, and hood) to participate in the procession and ceremonies.
No adornment of any kind is worn outside the robe or cap and no item (purse or backpack) may be carried. A small fanny pack worn under the gown around the waist is a good solution to carry such items as keys, comb, money, and personal identification (which is required for diploma pick-up). Graduates are advised to wear comfortable shoes and attire appropriate for the weather (including an umbrella if necessary).
Diplomas
Diplomas will be available following the graduation diploma ceremony. A picture ID is required to receive your diploma. May graduates unable to attend the diploma ceremony will receive their diplomas via U.S. mail following Commencement. Diplomas will be mailed to the forwarding address listed on the graduation application.
Special Accommodations for Disabled Graduates or Guests
If you require any special accommodations for disabled graduates or guests, be sure to let us know in advance. Contact Toni May, Registrar, at 216-368-5559 or wsomgrad@case.edu if you have any further questions regarding the diploma ceremony.
Photographs and DVDs
A professional photographer will take a picture of each graduate receiving his or her diploma. Graduates will receive a free proof of this photo in the mail within 14 days after Commencement Day, along with information on how to purchase additional prints.
Since professional photographs will be available, family members and guests are encouraged to remain in their seats, relax and enjoy the ceremony. To insure the comfort and safety of everyone, we request that guests not block the aisles or sightlines of others during the ceremony. A DVD of the Weatherhead Diploma Ceremony will also be available for purchase. Click here to order your DVD.
Graduation Announcements
Announcements that will serve as a means of informing friends and relatives of your achievement can be picked up from Student Services, 150 Peter B. Lewis Building. Ten announcements are being provided for each graduate, if needed more may be available at no charge.
