Ticket FAQ

Tickets are not replaceable. Students who receive tickets will not receive duplicates in the case of loss or damage.

How many tickets do I get?

Students who register online by April 1, 2013 at 5 p.m. EDT and indicate that they are planning to attend the convocation ceremony secure two guest tickets for convocation. Guest tickets are not required for graduates themselves. With the exception of the law and management school diploma ceremonies, which require guest tickets, no other diploma ceremony requires guest tickets.

Where do I get more tickets?

Based on the number of graduates anticipated to participate in this year's convocation ceremony, extra tickets are NOT likely to be available. Should extra tickets become available graduates can request them by contacting the school from which they will receive their diploma (i.e. Graduate Studies).

Can I purchase more tickets?

Students who register online by April 1, 2013 at 5 p.m. EDT reserve two guest tickets, which are provided free of charge. The university does not offer an option for graduates or guests to purchase additional commencement tickets.

Since I only receive limited tickets, other guests won't be able to see me get my diploma.

No student diplomas are awarded during the 9:30 a.m university convocation ceremony. Of school-specific diploma ceremonies, only the law and management school diploma ceremonies require guest tickets. No other diploma ceremony requires guest tickets.

I decided late that I want to have tickets for convocation, but didn't sign up. Can I still receive tickets?

Once you have submitted your Online Registration Form, you can review and change your request until 5 p.m. EDT on April 1, 2013. After that time, your request is final. You may be able to receive tickets if extras are made available after the initial distribution to the school commencement coordinators. Contact your school commencement coordinator to inquire about the process for distributing additional tickets. Not all schools offer this option, and those who do manage each process separately.

When will I know when extra tickets are available?

If available, additional guest tickets will be distributed by your commencement coordinator after April 10. Your commencement coordinator will determine the method to be used for extra ticket distribution.

What if a guest requires handicapped accessibility?

All facilities are handicapped accessible. Please review the information about accommodations provided by the university at the visitor information page.

Do I have to attend convocation?

Convocation is the ceremony where degrees are conferred by the president to all the graduates. It is a traditional ceremony that is attended by many faculty, guests and VIPs, and is the only time that all of the university's graduates are together for a ceremony. In fact, undergraduates, School of Medicine and Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences graduates MUST attend convocation to get their diplomas. There is no option for undergraduates to attend only their diploma ceremony.

Who is my coordinator?

Your commencement coordinator is your school's contact for all commencement information. See the commencement contact page for your school coordinator.

Can my tickets be sent via mail to me?

Tickets are only sent via mail to students who have graduated or are on an off-campus cooperative assignment. You must pick up your tickets in person at your designated pick up location. Find your pickup location on your school page.

Can I exchange tickets? What if I don't like my ticket number? Will tickets have seat numbers?

Seating for convocation is on a first come first-served basis. The ticket number does not correspond to a specific seat assignment.

What time does the Veale Center (or other facilities/services) open?

As with all campus facilities, the Veale Center will be open at 8 a.m. for seating for commencement. Guests must be in the Veale Center and seated prior to 9:15 a.m., or they may be held outside until the procession has entered the facility.

Where do I get tickets for my diploma ceremony?

Most schools do not ticket for their diploma ceremonies. The Law School and the Weatherhead School of Management are the only schools that require tickets for the diploma ceremony. Please consult with your commencement coordinator regarding specific arrangements.

Is this site secure?

Yes, the commencement registration site is behind the university's Single Sign On, which is password protected. The site is secure.
