Certificate Programs

Certificate in Management Information Systems

Computer-based systems are increasingly important to the survival and success of organizations. Information system technology is evolving very rapidly and has become important in the office and the factory in addition to its traditional role in transaction-processing applications. The M.I.S. Certificate program is designed to enable practicing managers to acquire or refresh knowledge and skills in this vital area. The program has proved valuable not only to general managers but also to specialists in accounting, management information systems, finance, health care, marketing, personnel, production and strategic planning.

Recognizing the diversity of needs and skills of practicing managers, we tailor a program of study for each individual student to take the fullest advantage of the person's capabilities and to ensure that the program meets the individual's unique goals and requirements.

To receive the M.I.S. Certificate, three requirements must be satisfied:

  1. Completion of five courses in Management Information and Decision Systems selected by the student with approval of the program director.
  2. Maintenance of a B (3.0) grade point average throughout all coursework.
  3. Completion of all graduation requirements within four years.

A student who fails to meet either of the last two requirements may be requested to withdraw from the program.

Students enrolled in the M.I.S. Certificate program who wish to take coursework outside the M.I.S. area must have the written approval of the program director. Such coursework is limited to a maximum of two courses.
