Case Defeats CMU, 1-0, in uaa play
CLEVELAND, OH (October 30, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team defeated Carnegie Mellon Unversity, 1-0, in Cleveland, OH.
With the win, regionally-ranked Case Western Reserve improves to 9-5-2 overall and 3-2 in UAA play, while CMU is now 6-6-2 overall and 1-2-2 in the UAA.
After a scoreless first half, Case scored the game's lone goal in the 63rd minute when sophomore defender Laura Gabster (Mount Laurel, NJ) scored on a free kick from 50-yards out.
The Tartans won the battle of shots, 9-7, while the Spartans held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
In goal, sophomore Anna Kennedy (Evanston, IL) made five saves.
Case Western Reserve is in action next when it faces Emory University on Sunday, November 1, at 1:30 p.m. as the second game of a men's and women's doubleheader.
