Case Defeats oberlin, 1-0, on goal in final minute

CLEVELAND, OH (October 24, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team defeated Oberlin College, 1-0, in Oberlin, OH.

With the win,regionally-ranked Case Western Reserve improves to 8-5-2 overall and 2-2 in UAA play, while Oberlin is now 4-11-2 overall.

The game was scoreless for the first 89 minutes until a Case corner kick led to the first career goal for freshman midfielder Kendra Simmons (Medina, OH ~ pictured) off a pass from Deena Levey (Columbus, OH) with 32 seconds to play.

The Spartans won the battle of shots, 21-10, and held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

In goal, sophomore Anna Kennedy (Evanston, IL) made three saves.

Case Western Reserve is in action next when it faces Carnegie Mellon University on Friday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. as the second game of a men's and women's doubleheader.
