Case Falls to #16 Washington (Mo.), 2-0, In first UAA Loss
CLEVELAND, OH (October 16, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team fell to #16-ranked Washington University, 2-0, in St. Louis, MO.
With the loss, Case Western Reserve falls to 7-4-2 overall and 2-1 in UAA play, while Washington is now 9-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the UAA. The loss is Case's first in the last five matches and drops the Spartans out of a tie for first place in the UAA.
The Bears struck first in the 17th minute when Emma Brown scored at point blank range off a feed from Lee Ann Felder. Washington added an insurance goal at 83:57 when Becca Heymann connected on a pass from Brown.
The Bears won the battle of shots, 17-3, and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
In goal, sophomore Anna Kennedy (Evanston, IL) made nine saves. These were the first goals Kennedy allowed, coming in her sixth start of the year.
Case Western Reserve is in action next when it travels to face UAA-foe The University of Chicago on Sunday, October 18, at 2:30 p.m.
