Case Defeats Olivet, 1-0, on Day One of JCU Classic
CLEVELAND, OH (September 11, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team defeated Olivet College,, 1-0, on day one of the John Carroll University Classic in University Heights, Ohio.
With its victory, Case Western Reserve moved to 2-1-1 overall while Olivet fell to 1-3 overall with the loss.
The game's lone goal came at the 3:00 mark when senior forward Kaitlyn Yule (Raleigh, NC ~ pictured) scored on an unassisted goal.
Case won the battle of shots, 24-5, and corner kicks, 6-1.
In goal, sophomore Jackie Guttman (Eden Prairie, MN) made three saves while recording her first shutout of the season.
The Spartans are in action again tomorrow, September 12th when they travel back to University Heights for day two of the John Carroll University Classic. Case Western Reserve faces John Carroll at 4:00 p.m. The game will be shown on tape delay tomorrow evening at 11:00 p.m. on Sports Time Ohio.
