Case Defeats Muskingum, 3-0, for first win on Day TWO of Case Classic
CLEVELAND, OH (September 6, 2009) -
The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team defeated Muskingum University, 3-0, on day two of the Case Western Reserve Classic at Case Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
After a scoreless first half, the Spartans scored their first goal at the 56:22 mark when senior forward Kaitlyn Yule (Raleigh, NC ~ pictured)) found the back of the net at close range off a pass from freshman midfielder Devyn Lee (Pennsylvania Furnace, PA). Case extend the lead to 2-0 four minutes later when junior Ann Arruda (Ann Arbor, MI) scored from 20 yards out. In the 87th minute, junior midfielder Steph Chinchen (Little Valley, NY) capped the scoring on a cross from sophomore defender Sammy Sarett (Huntersville, NC).
Case won the battle of shots, 21-0, and corner kicks, 10-0.
In goal, sophomore Anna Kennedy (Evanston, IL) and fresman Katie Woodling (Medina, OH) combined on the season's first shutout.
The Spartans are in action next weekend, September 11th and 12th when they travel to University Heights, Ohio for the John Carroll University Classic.
