CLEVELAND, OH (September 4, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team opened up their 2009 season tonight in Alliance, Ohio. The Spartans lost their first match, 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 16-25), to Alma College.

Sophomore outside hitter Rachael Suchy (Venetia, PA ~ pictured) and freshman outside hitter Alexandria Drake (Phoenix, AZ) each had eight kills and sophomore middle hitter Tricia McCutchan (Hamilton, OH) added seven to lead Case Western Reserve. Junior outside hitter Beth Karpinski (Avon Lake, OH) was injured during the second play of the game.
