FSM Center for Women presents Dr. Sandra Harding a feminist philosopher of science. Dr. Sandra Harding is the author/editor for several groundbreaking books including Is Science Multicultural? Postcolonialism, Feminism & Epistemologies.

4:30 pm in the Mather Dance Studio. Two Generations of Arab Women: is an 18-month on- going project featuring the arts, activism, and research of two generations of women from the Middle East and North Africa. The first event is a modern dance performed by Meriem Dahmani on Mar 20. Also, Dr. Naima Kitouni will give a lecture on women and early feminist movements in Algeria. Dr. Kitouni lectured with the Columbia University program in Paris and is currently co-administrator of The Algerian Cultural Center in Paris.

Pia Barros is a Chilean Poet and a Human Rights Activist who will be coming to give a public lecture entitled "Chilean Women and the Global Politics of Writing."

 

Jill Bystydzienski
Feb. 10-12,2008

Professor Jill Bystydzienski is the chair of Women's Studies at OSU and she will be visiting as an outside consultant to help in the advancement of our program. Prof. Bystydzienski is a notable scholar in the field with several publications. Her research interests focuses on gender and politics in international perspective.

 

WMST Open House 2007
November 30, 2007

Students who are majoring/minoring or possess an interest in WMST and Gender Studies are invited to this event. This will be a great opportunity for individuals to learn more about WMST and there will be free food. There will also be a 10 minute screening of the video the F-Word. The event will be held in Guilford Parlor from 12:30pm - 2:00pm.

Women's Studies, FSM Center for Women, College Scholars, and Festival Hispano 2007 Marjorie Agosin. She will be discussing Latin American society during its time of military dictatorships. she will focus on the technique with Chilean women used to protest the government of General Pinochet and the Argentinean Human rights group Amia.
