Scarlett Grala began working as a staff member for the University's Department of Theater Arts in 1985. In addition to providing administrative support to the faculty, she serves as business manager and publicity coordinator for Eldred Theater. Her "behind the scenes" work helps productions run smoothly and on schedule. Her job covers a wide range of responsibility including serving as a liaison for visiting guest artists, creating promotional displays, purchasing, accounting, and supervising the box office staff which is comprised of work-study students.
Prior to her career at CWRU, Scarlett worked "on the other side of the footlights." She studied dance and drama at Boston Conservatory of Music, and spent several years touring with various musical comedy revues booked in East Coast nightclubs. After settling in Cleveland and during the course of parenting three children, Scarlett worked part-time as a jazz dance instructor and choreographer, and was later employed as a public relations secretary for a major corporation.
