Background:
Well, I'm from Queens, New York originally, and took graduate
degrees at Stanford and Johns Hopkins. Areas of interest: History of
Africa, medical history, psychoanalysis, feminist theory, ethics.
Interests/Activities:
I have a book, --Imperial Bedlam: Institutions of Madness in
Colonial Southwest Nigeria--coming out from the University of
California Press later this year. I am very involved with the CWRU
Women's Studies Program, for which I serve as advisor. I am also
interested in modern dance.
Comments:
My impression of the program is that it has already accomplished
some spectacular things in a short time, but is also still
experimenting with its identity. Bringing in Cornel West and several
other very exciting speakers has been great. I have been involved
with the terrific senior projects by Annemarie Strassel and Sheira
Schlair, and these seem to me to embody the program's potential. I
became involved with the program because of the opportunity to work
with especially dynamic, thoughtful, motivated students. |
