Vanessa Ochs is the author of numerous books and articles. Among her books are Inventing Jewish Ritual, Sarah Laughed, and The Book of Jewish Sacred Practices (co-edited with Irwin Kula). Her research interests include the anthropology of Judaism, women in Judaism, material culture and the study of religions, new ritual, healing in the Jewish tradition, and the literature of spiritual journeys. She is associate professor of Religious Studies at the University of Virginia.
