Math 223: Calculus for Science and Engineering
Catalogue Description:
Introduction to vector algebra; lines and planes. Functions of several variables: partial derivatives,
gradients, chain rule, directional derivative, maxima/minima. Multiple integrals, cylindrical and
spherical coordinates. Derivatives of vector valued functions, velocity and acceleration. Vector
fields, line integrals, Green's theorem.

Exam schedule
There will be three midterm exams and a final exam.
Grading
Your course grade will be determined primarily by the results of the midterm exams, each of which is worth 100pts and the final exam worth 200pts. There will be no make-ups for the exam. The instructor has to be notified BEFORE the exam with a valid reason if the student cannot make it for an exam.
Midterms
Monday, February 11; Wednesday, March 5; Monday, April 14.
Final
May 2, 8:30-11:30am.
