Postscript files are self-contained and can be printed on any Postscript printer. If you have a Postscript viewer such as Ghostscript you may be able to read these files on screen. Postscript files have the extension .ps.
TeX DVI files are files produced by the TeX program, a typesetting system widely used by mathematicians and computer scientists. To print these files requires a special DVI printer driver program. Any system with TeX installed should have such a program and the fonts necessary to print most of the .dvi files available here. You will be warned about the exceptions.
Note: The abbreviation DVI has in recent years come to have a second meaning having to do with multimedia systems. The files available here are not of that type.
Acrobat Reader files have the extension .PDF They can be read on-screen and printed using Acrobat Reader, which is a free program available here. Printing from Acrobat Reader does not require a Postscript printer.
