Major
The History and Philosophy of Science major requires a minimum of 30 credit hours from courses in philosophy and in the history of science. Required are any four of the following courses:
PHIL 101, Introduction to Philosophy
PHIL 302, Modern Philosophy
HSTY 201, Science in Western Thought I
HSTY 202, Science in Western Thought II
HSTY/PHIL 203, Natural Philosophy I
HSTY 207/PHIL 204, Natural Philosophy II
HSTY 151, Technology in European Civilization
Also required for the major is the following course:
HSTY/PHIL 390, Senior Seminar in History & Philosophy of Science
In addition, majors must satisfy a minimum of five approved elective courses in History and Philosophy of Science.
Minor
The History and Philosophy of Science minor requires 15 credit hours made up of the following courses (3 credit hours each):
- HSTY 202 Science in Western Thought IIPHIL/HSTY 203 Natural Philosophy I
- PHIL 204/HSTY 207 Natural Philosophy II
+ 2 approved electives
