CHINESE
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track position in Chinese, open rank. Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment; native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English.  Applicants should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and interdisciplinary learning, and should be willing to teach Chinese language and literature courses at all levels. An interest in/experience in multi-media pedagogy is welcome. Normal teaching load is 3/2. The successful candidate will lead the expansion of the program in Chinese both within the department and in collaboration with interdisciplinary programs and initiatives. All applicants must have educational and research background in Chinese language and literature, and show evidence of ability to carry out a research program consistent with the expectations of a research university. Competitive candidates for associate professor should have a substantial publication record and a national reputation. Competitive candidates for professor should have achieved records of leadership in the profession and have a strong record of scholarly publications.

FRENCH
The CWRU Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for one full-time lecturer for the academic year 2010-2011, with possibility of renewal for up to two additional years. Duties: teach six language courses over two semesters. Minimum requirements: M.A., evidence of excellence in undergraduate language teaching, and native or near-native command of English and French. SPANISH
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures announces an opening for a tenure-track appointment in Spanish at the Assistant Professor level. Dynamic teacher/scholar in Contemporary Latin American Studies specializing in Caribbean Literatures and Cultures. Interest/expertise in linguistics a plus. Secondary interest in one or more of the following areas highly desirable: Portuguese, Afro-Caribbean and/or Afro-Brazilian literature and culture. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment. Ability to teach language courses at all levels, interest/experience in multi-media pedagogy, and a strong commitment to teaching excellence and interdisciplinary learning. Willingness to develop and teach courses in interdisciplinary programs (Ethnic Studies, World Literature, and/or Women's and Gender Studies) also desirable. Normal teaching load is 3/2.
