AFTER six months in the army Glasser was wounded at Pont a` Vendin, France. A bullet penetrated his upper arm and shoulder.

WHILE recovering from this injury he enrolled at the Albrecht-Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau to study physics, mathematics, chemistry, mineralogy and geology.

1919 GLASSER finished his schooling with a thesis on investigating the distribution of gamma rays around a radium capsule in order to get better information for the treatment of cancer patients.
