Center
for Science and Mathematics Education Mission |
| The
Center for
Science and Mathematics Education in the College of Arts and Sciences
serves as a clearinghouse for the wide variety of pre-college
programs at Case, as a coordinating body for outstanding programs housed
at the university, and as a catalyst for the development of new and
innovative partnerships. |

The
Center serves its university and K-12 constituencies by: |
|
|
Coordinating exemplary education programs such as the JASON Expedition, the
Northeast Ohio Regional Science Olympiad, and the High School Summer
Research Program. |
|
|
Serving
as the university home for the Cleveland Mathematics and Science Partnership,
an NSF-funded collaboration with the Cleveland Municipal School District,
John Carroll University, Cleveland State University, and EDC. |
|
|
Providing
the primary source of contact between the university and the Cleveland
Municipal School District |
|
|
Providing
logistical and recruiting support for the diverse array of outreach
programs on campus, with a particular emphasis on professional development
in math and science. |
|
|
Working
with faculty and staff in all eight schools at the university in the
development and implementation of new initiatives. |
|
|
Taking
a leading role in local and state-wide educational reform by serving
on committees such as the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Education Advisory
Board, the Cleveland District Standards Leadership Committee,
the Ohio Technology Congress, University Circle
Interactive Cleveland,
and the Ohio Citizens for Science. |
