StarLab/CosmyOdyssey Certification

A planetarium is a great way to teach students about the universe around them. This certification course will teach you how to use our portable planetarium. You'll receive
the instruction manual that is filled with fun and exciting activities. At the end of the workshop, sign up to rent this exciting piece of equipment for your astronomy education

Inquiry through Archaeology

Join the Museum in celebrating Archaeology Day. This special teacher workshop will allow you to investigate the past. You'll learn how to set up your own table top dig pit,
create an Ohio time line, analyze and classify real artifacts, get a tour of the Archaeology Department, explore Native Ohio peoples' lifestyles, and learn to throw an atlatal. Plus you'll be able to explore all the archaeological fieldtrip

Art and the Animal

Learn how to enliven and enrich your art program through nature studies in this workshop designed for early childhood educators. The newly adopted Ohio Early Learning Content Standards for Life Sciences will be discussed. Create take-home projects and enjoy a guided tour of the Ralph Perkins II Wildlife Center and the Art and the Animal traveling exhibit.
Museum CSI

Are your students crazy for forensic science? Why not learn from Museum experts? Dr. Joe Keiper and Dr. Bruce Latimer, Museum scientists, will share their expertise as consultants to the Cuyahoga County Coroners office. Learn from Dr. Keiper how bugs can be used to determine time of death and from Dr. Latimer how bones are examined at a crime scene. Pam Keiper will guide you through setting up a mock
crime scene and how to have students collect and analyze data. Lunch is included. (For an additional fee teacher may pre-order the GEMS guide Mystery Festival) (Designed for grade 2-8 educators)
Earth, Sun, & Moon

Ohio Animals

Are you a K-2 teacher trying to meet the new Ohio Science Standards in Life Sciences? Look no further this workshop was designed with you in mind. We'll take an in depth
look at the SRC's newest thematic teaching kit, Ohio Animals. We'll investigate habitats and adaptations of native Ohio animals. Weather permitting, we'll also
enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum's Wildlife Resource Center where you can view lots of native Ohio wildlife. You'll go home with Project WILD and Aquatic Project WILD curriculum guides (made possible by the Ohio Division of Wildlife) (Must complete all 8 hours of training to receive guides) (Designed for the K-2 educator).
