FALL 2009
WRITING CREATIVE NON-FICTION
Old Friend from Far Away by Natalie Goldberg contains numerous prompts to stir writing by awakening memories. We will continue mining its riches in the fall class. The book’s construction makes it as accessible for new class members as for those previously enrolled. Newcomers are welcome, with an option to purchase books at the first class. Work read in class receives supportive feedback from the group.

POETRY WORKSHOP
Steve Kowit, author of In the Palm of Your Hand, a book on writing poetry, claims the poetry writing process helps make “music of the things you love and long for, the memories that burn in your heart, and the fugitive images floating through your head, the things you have always wanted to say, the things you thought you would never dare say, and the things within you that won’t rest until they are finally given voice.” This group listens and responds to the work read by class members in a supportive way. Bring 15 copies of a poem you’ve written to the first class. Newcomers welcome.
