UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS: ARCHAEOLOGY

Archaeology

The undergraduate major in archaeology reconstructs the customs and daily life of past civilizations by excavating and analyzing the material remains of sites of human occupation.

Along with the important aspect of excavation, the discipline is also interested in understanding the evolution of culture and society. You will look at the changes in human society over the past 5 million years our species has inhabited the earth and seek answers as to how and why those changes have occurred.

Why Emphasize in Archaeology?

The archaeology concentration builds on an excellent overview of general anthropology, providing in-depth exposure to all subfields of archaeology. This broad exposure lays the foundation for more advanced study in old and new world prehistory.

This program combines the strength of Case's Departmetn of Anthropology with the staff and resources of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History's Department of Archaeology, giving you a unique oppportunity to study and participate in original archaeological research and museum curation.
